Ventura Nationals 2012


Punk Rock Legend Marky Ramone and Iconic Kustom Car Builder George Barris Ring in Labor Day with the Ventura Nationals

Kustom cars, live music, hot rods, motorcycles and a swap meet mark the 10th Annual Ventura Nationals Hot Rod & Motorcycle Show
(Ventura, CA) – The 10th Annual Ventura Nationals Hot Rod & Motorcycle Show and Music Festival rolls into to the Ventura County Fairgrounds on Saturday, September 1 and Sunday, September 2. Attractions include over 700 pre-1969 American hot rods, kustoms, classics, trucks, low-riders, and motorcycles on display and a pin up contest judged by the legendary Ramone’s drummer, Marky Ramone, as well as the infamous television, film and celebrity auto customizer, George Barris.  Guests will enjoy live music as bands spanning five different genres shake, rattle, and roll the Fairgrounds.
To keep up with all the festivities, here’s a breakdown of events:
Friday, August 31, 2012 – 7:00 – 10:00 p.m.
·         Official Art Show kickoff party at Fast Frame, 3954 East Main Street, Ventura, CA 93003. Cost: two cans of non-perishable food items for Ventura Foodshare
Saturday, September 1, 2012 – Gates open 9:00 a.m.
·         Various Car Club’s will be issuing their awards in numerous categories
·         Pin up Contest with judges Marky Ramone, George Barris, and Tom Ingram, founder of the world famous, Viva Las Vegas Weekender
·         Over 100 unique vendors and artists with gifts and souvenirs for sale
·         Silent auction with 100% of the proceeds donated to the Alzheimer’s Association
·         Actress Candy Clark (American Grafitti; The Man Who Fell to Earth) will be signing autographs both days
·         All day live music beginning at 10:00 a.m. from:
o        Legendary rocker Ray Campi
o        High School Caesar with special guest “Mr. Telecaster” Albert Lee
o        ‘Cumbiabilly’ by the Moonlight Trio
·         After-party at the Ventura Bowling Center, 1888 East Thompson Boulevard, Ventura, CA 93001 at 8:30 p.m.
o        Official Ventura Nationals “HoeDown” presented by The Reverend Martini, featuring performances by Cold Blue Rebels in full zombie regalia, The High School Caesar, and The MuerTones

Sunday, September 2, 2012 – Gates open at 9:30 a.m.
·         Ventura National Lifetime Achievement Awards – this year’s honorees are world famous Low Brow artist & publisher of Juxtapose Magazine, Robert Williams; Kustom Car legend  90 year old Bill Hines (customizing cars for over 70 years) and original Bat Mobile & Munster Koach Builder George Barris
·         Blessing of the Cars & Bikes by the Monsignor of the Mission San Buenaventura is an added feature for the 10th Anniversary
·         Even more live music from:
o        Cutting edge punk surf sounds from The MuerTones
o        The Root scene’s freshest sound, The Americans
o        The high octane Rockabilly group, The Sugar Daddys
·         A “Reliability Run” at 3:00 p.m. with registered car show participants beginning at the Ventura Fairgrounds to Carpinteria and Lake Casitas and ending with live music and refreshments at Noble Fabrication in Ventura at 4:00 p.m.

The Ventura Nationals Hot rod & Motorcycle Show and Music Festival takes place Saturday, September 1, 2012 to Sunday, September 2, 2012 at the Ventura County Fairgrounds, 10 West Harbor Boulevard, Ventura, CA 93001, with a kickoff party taking place Friday, August 31, 2012 at Fast Frame, 3954 East Main Street, Ventura, CA 93003.
