VENTURA HILLSIDES CONSERVANCY CELEBRATES 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF ITS ANNUAL MUSIC FESTIVAL
Saturday, September 22 Concert Headliners Include Blues Traveler,
 Dr. John, and Elvin Bishop

VENTURA, CA On Saturday, September 22, the Ventura Hillsides Conversancy will host the 10th annual Ventura Hillsides Music Festival at Arroyo Verde Park in Ventura, CA.  Headlined by Blues Traveler, Dr. John & The Lower 911, and Elvin Bishop, the Ventura Hillsides Music Festival will raise money for the Conservancy, whose mission is “to protect and conserve open space resources through acquisition of land and easements, stewardship of protected lands, and public education about local natural resources.” The family-friendly event starts at 1:00 p.m. (gates open at 11:30 a.m.) and runs until dusk. Children age 10 and under admitted for free, and beverages, beer on tap, and fine wine and food available for sale. Additionally, a pre-party will take place Friday, September 21, from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Crowne Plaza Ventura’s Lanai Patio, 450 East Harbor Boulevard, Ventura, CA 93001, and will include complimentary hors d’oeuvres, live entertainment, and happy hours beverage prices. Festival musical highlights include:

Blues Traveler - Sold more than 10 million albums worldwide, played over 2,000 live shows in front of more than 30 million people, and, in “Run-Around,” had the longest-charting radio single in Billboard history, which earned them a Grammy® for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. Like the name of one of their early EP’s they are “On Tour Forever” and also hold the record for the most appearances by any band on Late Night with David Letterman. Their new album “Suzie Cracks the Whip” was released June 26th.

Elvin Bishop - Founding member of the groundbreaking Paul Butterfield Blues Band, has also tasted pop success with his 1976 smash hit "Fooled Around and Fell In Love." Bishop's long career has included other musical stops along the way as well, from gutbucket blues played in smoky South Side Chicago taverns, to raucous roadhouse R&B, and at every stage along the way, he's imbued all of his music with deep passion, a uniquely creative spirit, and more than a little bit of sly humor.

Dr. John – Recently teamed up with Black Keys guitarist, Dan Auerbach, to release his latest album, “Locked Down,” earlier this year. The 2011 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, and five-time Grammy winner, is universally celebrated as the living embodiment of the rich musical heritage of New Orleans, the inspiration for his unique blend of voodoo mysticism, funk, rhythm & blues, psychedelic rock and Creole roots. Several of his many career highlights include the masterful album Sun, Moon and Herbs in 1971 which included cameos from Eric Clapton and Mick Jagger and 1973’s In The Right Place, which contained the chart hits “Right Place Wrong Time” and “Such A Night”.

General Admission tickets are $50 each, and Gold Circle tickets, which include front and center seats, a free chair, personal wait staff service, and a swag bag with gifts from local business, are $150, with packages available for families and groups. Children 10 and under are admitted for free. Free parking will be provided at Ventura College, and buses will shuttle concertgoers to Arroyo Verde Park.
